Numerical Simulation of Drilling Fluid Flow in Centrifugal Pumps

Centrifugal pumps are widely used in the oil and mining industries. In contrast to water pumps, centrifugal industries for transportation of drilling fluid, which is typically non-Newtonian fluid. Drilling fluids usually modeled as power-law with varying shear viscosity imposed rates. this paper, a numerical simulation fluid flow pump was simulated, only flow-rate magnitude, using comparison. The results show that presents lower head efficiency but higher shaft power than water. patterns both were investigated terms pressure fluctuation, turbulent kinetic energy, radial force on impeller. literature, paper also analyzes pulsations individual blades impeller, well those volute path. case it found viscous effect made at end highly irregular, could be attributed generated by them. At same time, small cross-section more sensitive rotation addition, effects collision exerted outlet impeller volute, dynamic static interferences, consume mechanical energy can reference improving design media.
